2016 edition

Franco Canalis wins the uphill time trial on Terra di Tandalò.

Successful completion of the new type of uphill race on dirt.

The race, unique in its kind for the type of route, strictly uphill and on dirt, for the type of cars admitted, rallies, cross country and open and for the spectacular scenery.

Memorial "Giuseppe Marroni"

Thanks to the collaboration with Aci Sport, the race took shape and took place in the best possible way. Great help from Buddusò where the Municipality and the inhabitants did everything to ensure that the event was successful in the best possible way.

Franco Canalis, at the wheel of a 4WD Buggy Prototype, won the last race of the island car season, the “Cronoscalata su terra Tandalò” Memorial Giuseppe Marroni. The event, organized by drivEvent, in collaboration with the Logistic Rally Testing Sardinia and the local Buddusò Racing team, is an atypical race with a large dose of passion for "genuine" engines.

49 registered drivers divided equally between Open and Rally groups, all battling it out on the 4.5 kilometer course, entirely on dirt and uphill, obtained on a stretch of the famous Monte Lerno time trial, with arrival in the Tandalò wind farm in the municipality of Buddusò.

A great success with the public, testifying to how much the motor tests are felt in Monte Acuto. After the 24-year-old driver Franco Canalis from Patta on a 4WD Buggy Prototype had set the best time on Saturday afternoon with 3'19”1 in the first heat, early Sunday morning 41 drivers finished the second timed trial. In the fog and with a temperature of 5 degrees, the local driver Francesco Marrone on Mitsubishi Lancer Evo9 was in fact the fastest of all with a time of 3'17”1. Then in the third heat, carried out under the sun, Marrone broke a bead on a tire and so Franco Canalis (who had broken the right rear suspension in the second time trial) scored the scratch again, setting a time of 3'14"1, thus overtaking new in the lead of the race. Finally, in the final time trial Canalis was again the best of all, setting a time of 3'11"4 and winning the race at the wheel of his Buggy 4WD Prototype with a total time of 9'44"6, ahead of Lorenzo Beccu (Buggy Prototype 4×4) 3″1 behind, while Gianfranco Pes finished third at 18”2 who preceded by only 3 tenths Francesco Marrone who finished in fourth position (both were at the wheel of a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo9).

Many fans present who, after having been on the timed stage and at the service park located at the Tandalò wind farm, also attended the final award ceremony which took place in the municipal auditorium of Buddusò, a town which hosted this very successful event with great passion manifestation.

A heartfelt thanks to all the drivEvent staff, LRT Sardinia and Buddusò Racing who allowed the success of the race.

The 2017 edition is already in the pipeline, the date will be November 18-19, certainly with this basis and with many innovations to improve the "Tandalò project".

At the top of Tandalò - 3rd – 4th December 2016
